WELCOME! TO THE 9TH ANNUAL MAD TEA PARTY!!!

HERE IT IS! THE 9TH ANNUAL MAD TEA PARTY, JULY 23rd, 2016, HOSTED BY LOVELY VANESSA VALENCIA AT HER AMAZING BLOG 'A FANCIFUL TWIST' !!!  PLEASE CLICK ON THE LEFT SIDE-BAR LINK FOR MORE MAD TEA PARTY PARTICIPANTS!!!

IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE THAT I AM PARTICIPATING, YET AGAIN, WITH SO MANY OTHER KINDRED SPIRIT TEA PARTY GOERS FOR THE MAD TEA PARTY !!!

ON WITH THE SHOW!!!

ALICE FOUND HERSELF CAPTIVATED (LITERALLY) IN A MIXED-MEDIA ALICE IN WONDERLAND ADVENTURE!

HERE IS ALICE, CONTEMPLATING HERSELF AS SHE TAKES AN ADVENTURE THROUGH WONDERLAND.
ALICE FINDS HERSELF ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF WONDERLAND, IN A GARDEN AND WHO DOES SHE SPY FIRST, BUT THE CATERPILLAR WHO ASKS HER 'WHO ARE YOU?'

ALICE HARDLY KNOWS WHAT TO SAY TO THE CATERPILLAR.  SHE SAYS 'WELL, I HARDLY KNOW SIR, WHO I AM!'

THE CATERPILLAR TELLS HER TO TAKE ONE BITE OF THE MUSHROOM TO HELP HER ON HER WAY THROUGH WONDERLAND.

ALICE TAKES A BITE OF THE MUSHROOM AND SAYS TO HERSELF 'I DON'T REMEMBER TEA PARTIES WHERE YOU ATE MAGIC MUSHROOMS!  THEN SHE SEES THAT THE CATERPILLAR HAS TRANSFORMED INTO A BLUE BUTTERFLY WHO TELLS HER TO GO VISIT THE WHITE RABBIT.

"CURIOUSER, AND CURIOUSER," SAYS ALICE.  "I IMAGINE THE NEXT THING I SHALL BE SEEING IS A WHITE RABBIT IN A WAIST-COAT!"

AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT ALICE SEES.  THE WHITE RABBIT SEES HER AND THINKS SHE IS HIS SERVANT.  THE WHITE RABBIT SAYS TO ALICE "WHY! MARY ANN! YOU MUST GO INTO MY HOUSE AND GET MY FAN AND MY GLOVES THIS INSTANT!"  ALICE REPLIES "I BEG YOUR PARDON? I AM NOT MARY ANN".  THE WHITE RABBIT DEMANDS THAT SHE GETS HIS THINGS FOR HIM SO SHE HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO, SO SHE GOES INTO HIS HOUSE.
IN THE MEAN TIME, ALICE TAKES ANOTHER BITE OF THE MUSHROOM WHILE SHE IS LOOKING FOR THE WHITE RABBIT'S GLOVES AND FAN, AND SHE BEGINS TO GROW LARGER.

ALICE FINDS HERSELF GROWING SO HUGE THAT ONE OF HER HANDS STICKS OUT OF THE TOP STORY WINDOW!  SHE IS VERY DISTRESSED.  THE WHITE RABBIT SEES THE HAND STICKING OUT AND BEGINS THROWING ROCKS AT ALICE'S HAND.  WHEN THE ROCKS FLY INTO THE WINDOW AND ON TO THE FLOOR INSIDE THE HOUSE, THEY TURN INTO LITTLE CAKES WHICH SAY 'EAT ME' ON THEM.  ALICE DECIDES TO EAT ONE AND SHE BEGINS TO SHRINK VERY RAPIDLY.
ALICE SNEAKS OUT THE FRONT DOOR OF THE WHITE RABBIT'S HOUSE AND SEES A SIGN THAT READS: THIS WAY.  ALICE DECIDES TO FOLLOW THE SIGN AND ENDS UP AT THE MAD TEA PARTY!!! YAY!!!

ALICE IS SOON SWEPT UP IN THE MAD TEA PARTY WITH THE MAD HATTER, THE MARCH HARE, AND THE DORMOUSE.  IT IS PURE INSANITY! SHE NEVER GETS TO DRINK ANY TEA AS THEY KEEP SAYING TO HER 'MOVE DOWN! NO ROOM! MOVE DOWN!'  SHE DECIDES TO LEAVE THE MAD TEA PARTY AND FOLLOWS THE BLACK AND WHITE CHESS BOARD PATH.
SOON ALICE SEES TWO VERY CURIOUS BROTHERS.  THEY ARE TWEEDLE DEE AND TWEEDLE DUM.

THESE TWO BROTHERS DECIDE TO HAVE A BATTLE AND ALONG COMES A MONSTROUS CROW AND SCARES THE PAIR AWAY.

ALICE DECIDES TO FOLLOW ANOTHER PATH THAT SAYS "THAT WAY".  SHE ENDS UP IN TULGEY WOOD AND FINDS AN EXTRAORDINARY KNIGHT RIDING ALONG ON HIS STEED.  HE HAPPENS TO BE STANDING ON A CHESS BOARD ON THE SQUARE FOR KNIGHTS.

ALICE IS INTRIGUED BY THE  KNIGHT AND ASKS HIM IF SHE CAN FOLLOW HIM ALONG THE CHESS BOARD  AS SHE INTENDS TO BECOME QUEEN ALICE.  THE KNIGHT OBLIGES AND SAYS THAT SHE CAN FOLLOW HIM. BUT HE TELLS HER TO BEWARE OF THE JABBERWOCKY!!!

ALICE HIDES BEHIND A TREE WHEN SHE SEES THE JABBERWOCKY.  THE KNIGHT IS NOW NOWHERE TO BE SEEN.  ALICE DECIDES TO GO THROUGH A DOOR IN A TREE AND SHE FINDS THE CHESHIRE CAT.
ALICE BEGINS TELLING THE CHESHIRE CAT THAT SHE CANNOT FIND HER WAY HOME.  HE TELLS HER TO BE CAREFUL WHEN SAYING 'HER WAY' AS ALL WAYS HERE ARE 'THE RED QUEEN'S WAYS!'

IT IS ALWAYS 3 O'CLOCK IN WONDERLAND!
ALICE SAYS 'OH! STUFF AND NONSENSE! I HAVE SEEN NO RED QUEEN HERE!' THE CHESHIRE CATS SAYS 'I CAN DIRECT YOU TO THE QUEENS'S GARDEN.  WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?' ALICE DECIDES TO GO TO THE QUEEN'S GARDEN AS THERE MAY BE A PATH SOMEWHERE WHICH WILL LEAD HER HOME.
ALICE FINDS THE RED QUEEN AND PROMPTLY DECIDES TO NOT EVEN TALK TO HER.  SHE SEES THE DUTCHESS AND PLAYS CROCHET FOR A WHILE AS THEY WALK HAND IN HAD.
ALICE IS BEGINNING TO NOT SEE STRAIGHT WITH ALL OF THIS WANDERING AROUND.  SHE WOULD LIKE TO FIND THE REAL MAD TEA PARTY, BUT BEFORE SHE CAN TURN AROUND, ALL OF THE RED QUEEN'S CARDS COME FLYING AT HER.
ALICE KNOWS THAT IT IS PERPETUALLY 3 O'CLOCK IN WONDERLAND, SO SHE KNOWS SHE STILL HAS TIME TO VISIT ANOTHER MAD TEA PARTY.

AS ALICE IS LEAVING WONDERLAND SHE SPIES THE RED KING WHO IS SNEAKING OUT OF WONDERLAND WITH THE CHRONOSPHERE TO TRY AND CHANGE THE TIME IN WONDERLAND BACK TO NORMAL, WHATEVER NORMAL IS IN WONDERLAND!!!

ALICE FINDS HER WAY BACK TO HER OWN HOUSE AND READS HER MAD TEA PARTY INVITATION.

SHE FINDS HER HONORARY INVITATION TO THE MAD TEA PARTY WHICH SHE HAD SET ON HER DINING ROOM HUTCH.

SO, OFF ALICE GOES! SHE IS DONE WITH THE NONSENSE OF WONDERLAND FOR THE DAY! SHE WANTS TO SEE SOME REAL TEA SETS AND DRINK SOME REAL TEA WHICH DOESN'T MAKE HER GROW TALL OR GROW SMALL.
ALICE BEGINS SEEING MORE CATS THEN SHE CAN COUNT! (THIS SCULPEY SCULPTURED CAT IS MADE BY REKNOWNED CLAY ARTIST, JOHN ANDERSON).

THE CAT-IN-THE-HAT SHOWS UP FOR THE MAD TEA PARTY.  I MEAN, AFTER ALL, ISN'T HE ONE OF THE CRAZIEST CATS AROUND!?

OLD MOTHER HUBBARD IS THERE AND ASKS ALICE IF SHE WOULD LIKE SOME COMFORTING CHAMOMILE TEA TO SETTLE HER NERVES AFTER BEING IN WONDERLAND.  ALICE RESPONDS WITH 'I DO BELIEVE I WOULD LIKE SOME CHAMOMILE TEA!' 'THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!'

A VERY SWEET KITTY TEA POT SERVES ALICE HER TEA.

AS ALICE SIPS HER TEA, SHE BEGINS TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE TEA PARTY.  SHE WALKS AROUND THE LOUNGE, AND DINING ROOM AREA, SEEING ALL OF THE AMAZING TEA POTS AND TEA CUPS AND SAUCERS, AND MANY CHARMING CREATURES AND DOLLS WHO HAVE COME TO THE MAD TEA PARTY.
THERE ARE MANY TEA SETS FULL OF ALL TYPES OF TEAS.

AND MORE TEA SETS.....
AND VERY FANCY JOHNSON BROTHERS ROSE TEA SETS.....

AND TEA CUPS AND SAUCERS ALL OVER THE PLACE!

ALICE IS SO DELIGHTED WITH THE MAD TEA PARTY!!!

ALICE SEES WEDNESDAY ADDAMS, (BY MARINA LENZ) AND MUNCHKINS, AND A WUMBWEE (BY FLORA THOMPSON)
THERE ARE ALSO PRIM AND PROPER LADIES AT THE MAD TEA PARTY.  AND A TINY WHITE RABBIT EATING A CARROT! AND A SMALL TERRIER TO KEEP IT COMPANY.

'OH!' SAID ALICE 'THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN BEING WITH THE RED QUEEN AND HER 'OFF WITH HER HEAD' SCENARIO! ALTHOUGH IT DOES APPEAR THAT SOME OF THE DOLLS HAVE LOST THEIR BODIES!

THERE IS EVEN A TINY TEA POT AND TINY CUPS AND SAUCERS, AND BIRDS, OWLS, AND CLAY KITTENS MADE FROM PINK, AND WHITE CLAY.

ALICE WAS QUITE FULL OF TEA AND GOODIES BY THIS TIME.  SHE HAD HAD A FULL TIME BEING IN TWO DIFFERENT MAD TEA PARTIES!  (ALICE DOLL BY RHISSANNA, SEE LINK TO HER BLOG ON MY RIGHT SIDE BAR).
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL FOR COMING TO THE MAD TEA PARTY! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED WALKING AROUND WONDERLAND WITH ALICE.

PLEASE CLICK ON 'A FANCIFUL TWIST' LINK ON MY LEFT SIDE BAR TO ATTEND MORE PARTIES.

HERE IS A PHOTO OF THE ENTIRE 'ALICE CONTEMPLATING WONDERLAND' MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE' WHICH I BEGAN IN MARCH, AND JUST COMPLETED LAST WEEK.  IT IS NOT FOR SALE AT THIS TIME, BUT MAY BE IN THE FUTURE.

Hello and Thank you for your comment on my recent blog post! I do hope you will make another visit for my special Mad Tea Party Post as well.

I really love your mixed media work! I've done collaging of various types since I was in grade school and still find it lots of fun to do! I find that collecting the items to use in projects is a big part of the fun!

I will be back soon to peruse your links on your sidebar, as I am also very interested in dolls and children's books!

Wishing you a wonderful and Mad Tea Party weekend!

Betty

First of all, I love your art! I would love to read more of your posts. I'm an oil artist, but I'm interested in mixed media, especially art journaling. (But I don't know what I'm doing).....

I also enjoyed seeing your whimsical collection of teapots! Truly a lovely party.

Happy Mad Tea Party!
